“I Used to Fall All The Time”
Just today a client told me that she used to fall all the time before starting here at Strength School.
This woman is in her late 50s. And in the 3 years before she started working out with us at the gym, she had fallen dozens of times - at home, at work, walking to the car, running errands around town, etc. She had fallen down stairs, up stairs, and even fell off some stairs.
One time she broke a toe on her left leg.
Another time she almost broke a thumb.
The worst was an avulsion fracture in her right foot. What’s an avulsion fracture? Yeah, I didn’t know either until she told me.
An avulsion fracture happens when a muscle contracts so hard that it pulls a chunk of bone away from the main bone. Imagine how painful that would be . . . that’s what happened as a result of one of this client’s many falls.
So, about three years ago, she joined Strength School. She wanted to improve her balance and strengthen her legs. Not only was she dealing with frequent trips and falls, but she had also had her hip replaced and had lost a lot of leg strength.
The results?
Three years later, my client says that she doesn’t fall at all any more. Her balance is very good; her legs are stronger. And, perhaps most importantly, she’s got her confidence back.
